Not to mention it was the 100th win for Wood Brothers racing. At he did something Austin Dillon couldn’t do. Win cleanly. And he became the first 2000’s born to win in the cup series

In the Chase For The Cup we had points reset back to normal after elimination and to get that back would actually kinda fix the problem (well, it's not like we expect Chastain/Bubba/Buescher to win a Championship anyway)

I don’t mind a Chase, that’s not that problem. It’s the format that’s the issue especially the *win and you’re in* stipulation which I originally thought was a good idea but that’s something I’ve changed my mind on. I’m happy for Burton and the Wood Brothers and am all for underdogs stories and feel good wins + new winners, but at the same time I will admit those same underdogs have NO business being in the Chase which is why sadly we can’t fully enjoy these underdog stories anymore these days like we used to thanks to these stupid ass gimmicks getting in the way of that. I don’t blame you for watching less NASCAR Brian! Makes you wonder why I took all of last year off and I get it’s not the same NASCAR I once knew but I still tune in because I still love it and it’s still a sport even if I only watch it part time like this year. The Chase, Playoff format nonsense is one of the stupidest gimmicks that NASCAR ever came up with. They don't need it and it leads to controversy like this and like what happened 2 weeks ago. Now granted they nullified Austin Dillon's playoff berth but still, they let him keep the win--not good. They should have taken the win right then and there for the right rear hook on Hamlin at the very least and suspended him for a race for that move for sure. And now you have this mess. This is the controversy being fulfilled and quite frankly the Playoff Format that they adopted 10 years ago has been mostly, if not nothing but, controversial from the very beginning. It is well past time to go back to the pre-Chase format where every race counts. No Playoff. No Chase. Just a whole season. And to prevent injured drivers from competing and risking themselves and others, have substitute drivers score points for the injured driver. That's what they have in the NHRA. This format is a very stupid and dangerous format. It needs to be eliminated and the old format before the Chase be brought back. Allow stage points but no yellow flags at the end of stages. And make those bonus points. But no more playoff garbage. It has no place in racing. That all being said, I will say congratulations to Harrison Burton. So glad he got that win. And at Daytona!!! May he win many more.

I have been taking a break from watching NASCAR (tho I watch less nowadays) since after the Richmond 2 garbage. I hate the fact that everything in NASCAR is about The Chase and all that garbage. Still sucks to see how NASCAR is, it still sucks that TV Networks want NASCAR to be like WWE and Ball Sports on wheels with manufactured entertainment. Of course it is cool to see Wood Brothers Racing get 100 wins. But it is hard to enjoy those natural good storylines cuz the fake gimmicks are in the way to ruin everything as usual.

They should just pick a number out of a lottery machine instead. Win and your in makes me hate super speedways.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I would be more happy for Harrison if the playoffs didn't exist (and if NASCAR didn't do away with the 30th and below don't make it rule) And I also have been more invested with the Winston format The Iceberg posts.

NGL on that last restart I was rooting for Cody Ware. I appreciate ridiculous winners and this would have been the most ridiculous winner in NASCAR history. 😂 And it would have 0 impact on the Playoffs since he's not full time.

yeah i mean it's one of those where im happy for harrison but this points system has been trash since it was adopted. the original chase was fun, or id even like the original winston cup points over this crap. it's just not fun to have some random person end up in the playoffs just to get eliminated right away

I’m so happy for Harrison, 100th win for wood brothers, and a man who lost his ride with nothing to lose goes out and gets it done. It was incredible! Seeing Kim, and Jeff up in the booth show so much emotion was refreshing. Moments like this are what we love to see. It’s a shame the playoffs is what everyone’s mind goes to as soon as something cool like this happens. I get it though. Masterclass call by Diffey at the end though.

Am I the only one who feels like Super speedway racing is less about skill than it was a decade or more ago? There is some skill involved like Burton not spinning when Busch bumped him or timing a push or run right, but otherwise it seems to be way more luck based than in the past.

Thank you for making this Brian! I’m a fan of both Earnhardt Sr and Dillon and I like Kenny a lot but he’s way off on this one. Sure Dale wrecked a shitload of people throughout the course of his career but NEVER to that extent like Austin did! So many Apples and Bowling Balls comparisons he made it’s baffling. And no I’ve never watched his UA-cam Channel even though I am subscribed. EDIT: 13:11 Actually that was Sears Point where that particular battle took place and you know how I know? Because Watkins Glen was when JG24 sat on pole, got spun Turn 1, Lap 1 by Biffle and drove back up through the field before running out of fuel on the last lap and getting run over by Harvick coming to the checkered flag as the 2nd Place guy that day was Scott Pruett

The year Rusty Wallace retired Kevin Harvick drove aggressively in the Daytona qualifying races and all the drivers made sure to tell him he was an idiot for it.

Boys have at it would be fine if the drivers actually had respect for each other like in the old days and when somebody did something stupid they all gang up on him and teach him a lesson then go back to hard but clean racing.

I think Kenny Wallace to a degree is supposed to satirical, the video where he makes fun of Formula 1 is proof of that and he also made fun of NASCAR in it to prove his point.
